ABOUT

Sue grew up in a Christian family and has been a part of Te Awamutu Bible Chapel since before she was born. She set up two homes for at-risk young women and ran each home herself before handing them over to people committed to the long term care of the girls.

Sue then spent ten years working with World Vision New Zealand. It was during this time she first visited Cambodia, where an encounter with a lone young 16 year-old girl dying of AIDs became the catalyst for Sue’s determination to return to Cambodia, to give what she could to the lives of those who had been ignored, then forgotten.

For 10 years, Sue worked with Hagar International in Cambodia, working in a variety of roles, setting up and overseeing residential recovery shelters, and then in community care initiatives, finding and training foster parents and helping place kids into families in rural Cambodia.
