It’s ok to be stuck, it’s not ok to stay that way

From my farm kid days, I remember cows being stuck in the mud and the mission it was to get them out. We would pull one of her legs up and put it on dry land but by the time we sorted another leg, the first one was back in the mud. It often took drastic measures with a tractor and a rope to get her unstuck.

In life I sometimes feel stuck, which is OK, and like the cows to get unstuck sometimes takes drastic measures. It’s OK to be stuck – but it’s not ok to stay that way.

·      I get stuck in old ways of thinking but I get unstuck when I think God’s thoughts because they are creative and new.

·      I get stuck in recurring problems but I get unstuck when I look for and focus on solutions

·      I get stuck in financial lack and worry but I get unstuck when I remind myself how God has provided EVERY TIME in the past and I live confidently from that place.

·      I get stuck in disappointment, discouragement or criticism but I get unstuck when I remind myself that I live for an “audience of one” and God is not disappointed in me.

David (from the Bible) felt stuck too but in Psalm 40 he shares how he got unstuck. He writes that God removed him from the situation, put him in a new place and gave him ongoing support as he recovered.  Many saw the change and were amazed when they saw his new outlook on life.

There’s how to get unstuck – right there. Let God do what God does best … taking us from the mud to the mountain.
